Most players calculate three moves. Then the board goes blurry.
Not because they lack talent — because holding a position in your head is a separate skill from finding a move, and almost nothing trains it. The Blindfold Ladder shows you a position, takes the board away, and asks what is on a square. It starts with four pieces and gets harder only when you are ready.
Common questions
Is ChessDeeper free?
Yes, and there is no paid tier. The chess engine runs inside your own browser rather than on a server, so analysing a game costs nothing to provide — which is why it can stay free without ads or limits on how many games you review.
Do I need an account?
Not to look someone up. Entering a Chess.com or Lichess username shows their profile, ratings and game history straight away. A free account is required to run an engine game review, because reviews are saved to build your progress and weakness tracking over time.
Does it work with both Chess.com and Lichess?
Yes. Both publish game history through public APIs, and ChessDeeper reads either one. You can also paste the PGN of a game from anywhere — over the board, another site, or your own analysis — and review that instead.
Which chess engine does it use?
Stockfish 18 with NNUE evaluation, compiled to WebAssembly and run in a Web Worker in your browser. Where the browser allows it, a multi-threaded build spreads the search across CPU cores; otherwise it falls back to single-threaded, so the review still works.
How is this different from the analysis on Chess.com or Lichess?
The engine work is comparable — Stockfish is Stockfish. The difference is what happens afterwards. ChessDeeper works across both platforms at once, turns the positions you misplayed into puzzles you re-solve later, tracks which tactical patterns you have genuinely mastered, and finds openings you have reached and mishandled more than once in your own games.
What data is stored?
Without an account, nothing personal — API responses are cached briefly and are not tied to you. With an account we store your email address, a hashed password handled by our authentication provider, and the games you review with their per-move analysis. Board colours, piece style and locally saved training progress stay in your browser.
